Social Emotional Support Services (SESSII)

Grant SESSII is an APS District Social Emotional Support Services Level III located on the campus of Grant Middle School. It is one of six APS District programs for elementary through high school students who require the support and services of an intensive, supported and structured environment.

Program Services and Information

Student population:

Grant SESSII serves students who live east of 1-25 in the APS attendance boundaries. All students receiving services in the Social Emotional Support Services Level III (SESSII) are eligible for special education services and have received significant special education services and supports prior to entering SESSII.

The emotional and behavioral needs of the students require more intensive support, including a structured and supervised environment, crisis intervention by trained staff throughout the school day, and specialized academic and social skills instruction in order to succeed in school.

The students attending SESSII require a level of supervision, consistency, and support that is not available at their neighborhood sites.


Equal emphasis is placed on academics, social/behavioral skills, and making healthy life choices. All students have Individualized Educational Plans (IEP) in place.

Support Services:

The Social Emotional Support Services Level II uses a multi-disciplinary team approach that includes an on-site Administrator, School Social Workers, Special Education Teachers, Educational Assistants, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Adapted Physical Education, School Nurse as well as a Consulting Clinical Psychologist. 

Our services include a consistent behavior management system including a token economy system and positive behavior supports is utilized. All staff is trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Non-Violent Crisis Physical Intervention annually.
