For some families, COVID 19 and social distancing has brought a new kind of stress.  There are multiple resources to help families and loved ones cope with mental health issues and crises.  If you or a loved one is experiencing any kind of emotional crisis, mental health or substance use concern, you can find help 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line at ​1-855-NMCRISIS (1-855-662-7474) or ​Peer to Peer Warmline at 1-855-4NM-7100 (1-855-466-7100). nmcrisisline.com

NMConnect is an application that you can load to your phone and have immediate access to the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line:

Another valuable application is the My3 app that allows you to build a support system, build a safety plan, and access important resources in the event of suicidal ideation:

Services and Programs

The following is a list of services that GMS School Counselors provide:

  • Classroom guidance lessons
  • Academic planning
  • Career awareness, exploration, and planning
  • Personal/social issues
  • Brief individual counseling
  • Group counseling
  • Crisis intervention
  • Outside agency referrals
  • Professional Development
  • Consultation and collaboration with counselors, administration, and staff
  • Participation in teaming with other professionals to provide student services and support
  • Assisting parents with information
