WEB (Where Everybody Belongs)
WEB LEADERS

WEB at Grant Middle School
Where Every Eagle Belongs 🦅
Starting middle school is a big transition. At Grant Middle School, we want every student to know from day one that they belong here, they are supported, and they are part of our Eagle community.
WEB — Where Everyone Belongs — is a middle school transition and mentoring program designed to help our newest Eagles feel connected, confident, and prepared for success at Grant.
WEB connects our 8th-grade student leaders with incoming 6th-grade students to help make the transition to middle school a positive and welcoming experience.
Building Connections
WEB gives 6th-grade students the opportunity to connect with older students who understand what it is like to start middle school.
Our 8th-grade WEB leaders serve as positive role models and mentors. They help our newest Eagles:
- Get to know Grant and their school community
- Build positive relationships with other students
- Learn how to navigate middle school
- Develop confidence and independence
- Understand Grant's expectations and routines
- Identify strategies for handling challenges
- Know where to go when they need help
- Feel connected to their school
Student Leadership
WEB is also an opportunity for our 8th graders to lead by example.
WEB leaders develop leadership, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills as they welcome and support our 6th graders.
Our older Eagles have an important role in helping create the culture we want at Grant—one where students look out for one another and everyone has a place to belong.
What Do Students Experience?
Throughout the year, WEB provides opportunities for students to build relationships, learn important middle school skills, and talk about topics that matter to them.
Students participate in activities focused on:
🧭 Navigating the Day
Learning how to successfully navigate schedules, routines, classes, and the middle school experience.
🦅 Making Eagle Choices
Understanding expectations and making choices that contribute to a positive school community.
🎯 Building a Success Plan
Setting goals and identifying strategies and supports that can help students be successful.
💙 Managing Challenges
Learning how to recognize stress, identify healthy strategies, and seek support when needed.
🤝 Building Belonging
Creating connections with peers, mentors, teachers, and the larger Grant community.
More Than a Transition Program
WEB is about more than helping students find their classrooms or learn the school schedule.
It is about creating belonging.
We want every 6th grader to enter Grant knowing that there are people here who know them, support them, and want them to succeed.
At the same time, we give our 8th graders an opportunity to step into leadership and help shape the experience of the students who will follow them.
